Fiber products
Of course, everybody knows this, based on his or her own experience. Dietary fibre refers to the part of carbohydrates that cannot be utilized by the human digestive system for energy production. Dietary fibres are divided into soluble and insoluble ones. Flax seed contains both of these. After the pressing of oil, the total fibre content of crushed linseed is 37 %, of which 1/3 soluble and the remaining 2/3 insoluble fibre.
The recommended daily intake of dietary fibres is 25-35 g for an adult, which corresponds to approx. 3 g/MJ (= 13 g/1000 kcal). A diet containing lots of carbohydrates rich in fibre has beneficial effects on the glucose and fat metabolism. A diet with high fibre content, with the shares of fats and carbohydrates in balance, reduces the risk of obesity and related diseases. Sufficient fibre intake improves bowel movements and may prevent colonic cancer.
