Elixi Oil Oy started developing its Pellavainen products based on flax in 1993. Currently, flax is being cultivated in Finland for our company's need as controlled contract cultivation. The product development is active, and there are new products to be introduced to the markets.

People have known how to use linseeds to promote well being already for several millenniums. Within the vegetable world, linseed really stands out thanks to its nutritional value. The oil pressed out of linseeds contains more alpha- linolenic acid than any known vegetable oil. This substance belonging to the group of Omega-3 fatty acids is one of the two essential fatty acids. Crushed linseeds, after the pressing of oil, for their part are rich in dietary fibre important to the digestion as well as e.g. lignan that is being studied all over the world because of its potential effects benevolent to human health.
